I'm a product manager working at an e commerce company in northern california. I love my job because it allows me to work with smart people to solve interesting problems. Right now i'm working on improving search and automated product recommendations.
I lead a cross functional team focused on improving customer outcomes related product finding. So far i've overseen an overhaul of our internal search technology and run AB tests on better experiences for browsing, searching, and using automated product recommendations. We've generated over 15m additional revenue for the business just last year alone.
Recent experiments include improving search as you type, finding better ways to measure the success of our search experience, improving personalized product recommendations, content personalization related to promotions and understanding about how content can be used to educate customers about complex products.
Worked with diverse group of developers on a web application that served our flagship site, as well as a host of other niche sites. We also support a full custom order management platform, a content publishing tool which can send json responses that look great on templates for any device, and a host of other small tools for managing the 800,000 or so products we sell. Recently we've on-boarded several new acquisitions onto our platform (including my favorite, kegerator.com)
I oversee multiple projects across all phases of development concerning a flagship site and 19 other niche sites running on a node/java application. Marketing beacons, custom 3rd party integrations, reviews, article content, templates and landing pages.
Overseeing long and brutal platform migration from 13 year old legacy coldfusion codebase to a more modern node platform
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to improve search relevancy and product recommendations.
Help to build shared consensus and foster decision-making across projects.
Collaborating with product managers to gather requirements, manage expectations, and make better mistakes tomorrow .
I started out working on our brand new mobile application which was a complete rebuild of our commerce site using react native
Helped to get team organized, led sprint planning and retros
Started at Build as the worlds oldest intern, but was allowed to function as a Jr Dev
Mostly worked on front end bugs, and migrating legacy javascript to a backbone framework.
I was actually the first intern they had hired in years, and thanks to my success the decision was made to hire a team of interns, of which I was the team lead
My success leading the intern team led me to an opportunity in Project Management
